Abstract

1,236,726. Raising tower-crane masts. LOIRECORD. 2 March, 1970 [6 March, 1969], No. 9861/70. Heading B8B. A tower crane comprises a mast 1 pivoted at 3 on a frame fixed to a base 5. A lever 12 is pivoted at 13 on the base 5 and is free to slide along the mast 1 on rollers 14. The mast 1 is raised by a tackle 7, 8, 11, a force F 1 providing a turning moment F 1 L 1 associated with a turning moment F 2 L 2 due to the reaction of the lever 12 on the mast 1. In the initial position shown F 2 = F 1 x I 1 /I 2 so that the initial total turning moment=F 1 (L 1 +L 2 x I 1 /I 2 ) compared with a conventional arrangement wherein the pulley 11 is attached to the base 5, Fig. 1 (not shown), which gives F 1 L 1 .
