Abstract

1,235,906. Rolling; profile section forming. WINDSHIELDS OF WORCESTER Ltd. 17 Oct., 1969 [29 Nov., 1968], No. 56682/68. Headings B3E and B3M. A section forming machine, for shaping strip material such as stainless steel or chromiumplated mild steel to be used as decorative trim for motor vehicles, comprises a plurality of pairs of rolls 10, each roll having a spindle which receives its drive from an hydraulic or a pneumatic motor 11, said motors being fed with fluid from a common supply 22 through control means. In a preferred form the motors are hydraulic and are supplied by a constant pressure pump 18 driven by an electric motor 19 from a reservoir 20 through a pressure relief valve 24, control valve 25 and fluid switching means 23 which directs fluid into lines 28 or 29 for forward or reverse running of the motors or line 27, which is the common return line from the motors, for neutral. The motors are connected in parallel and are of the reversible lowspeed high-torque type. The spindles are adjustable in a frame 14 for altering the roll nip or accommodating rolls of various sizes.
