1306533 Drawing; making bar or wire; grinding; flying shears SOC METALLURGIQUE DE REVIGNY 25 Feb 1970 [4 March 1969] 8958/70 Headings B3A B3D B3P and B3W In a bar or wire drawing machine having two drawing carriages E1, E2 adapted to relay each other so as to effect a continuous drawing, each carriage is moved by a double acting fluid motor 1, 2 which acts at a higher speed in the return direction than in the drawing direction. Each carriage E1, E2 is driven by a hydraulic piston, and cylinder device 1, 2 supplied by a pump to draw the workpiece through a die C. For high drawing speeds, gears may be interposed between each carriage and piston and cylinder device. The drawn bar is cut to length by a grinding wheel K or a hydraulically actuated shear (not shown) mounted on a carriage G, which is moved forward with the bar when the end of the drawn bar passes a photo-cell. The photo-cell actuates bar gripping jaws H on the carriage G and a clutch 11 which connects in rotating sprocket wheel 8 to a sprocket wheel 12 which transmits motion to the carriage G through G chain 13. The sprocket wheel 8 is rotated by an endless chain 6 which is continuously moved forward by sprocket wheels 9, 10 on the drawing carriages E1, E2. A bar chamfering carriage L is connected to the carriage G by bars 15 for chamfering the leading end of the drawn bar. The cut bars are discharged by a device (19) (Fig. 3, not shown) to one of two roller straighteners positioned at each side of the machine. In another embodiment, three bars are drawn simultaneously.
