1,235,402. Annealing magnetic materials. 11T RESEARCH INSTITUTE. June 26, 1969 [July 22, 1968j, No.32416/69. Headings C7A and C7N. [Also in Divisions B3 and G4-6] In the manufacture of magnetic head cores from a binary Fe-Si alloy containing 3 to 7% by weight of Si and less than 0À05% by weight of carbon (see also Divisions B3 and G5) the core 37, 38 Fig.4 is magnetically annealed by clamping it in a stainless steel ring Fig. 5 (not shown), looping over an electric conductor 30 in a chamber 31, heating to 2000‹F. for 3% Si and 2050‹ F. for 6À5% Si (i.e. above the Curie temperature) in a dry hydrogen atmosphere for 15 minutes, and allowing to cool over several hours, current being passed through the conductor 30 to set up the magnetic field as the core cools from 1500‹F. to 500‹F.
