Abstract

1,235,209. Vehicle headlamps. KOMBINAT FAHRZEUGELEKTRIK RUHLA VEB. 20 Dec., 1968, No. 60707/68. Heading F4R. A headlamp producing an asymmetric dipped beam comprises a concave reflector 1, a diffusing lens 14, an incandescent lamp bulb 3 with a dipped-beam filament located in front of the focus of the reflector, and a prismatic diffusing plate 5 which extends parallel to the axis of the reflector at one side of the bulb and deflects some of the light towards the lens 14 so that after reflection it is concentrated, within the general area of the dipped beam, at a point twenty-five metres in front of the headlamp. The plate is secured to the reflector by a bracket 4 and supports a screening cap 15 in front of the bulb. The lens 14 is provided with diffusing ribs except in the region through which the light rays which are deflected by the plate 5 subsequently pass.
