Abstract
1,234,330. Binocular rangefinder. POLAROID CORP. Aug.18, 1969, No.41069/69. Headings G2A and G2J. A binocular rangefinder, which may be used in a camera, comprises a partially reflective planar element 22, Fig.3, angled such that light from a distant object is visible to the viewer therethrough and light from the two alternately energized lamps L 1 L 2 , Fig.1, is also rendered visible by deflection via diffusing members 18, 19 reticles 12, 16 and lenses 20, 21 all contained in tubular housings 10, 14. In use the reticular images 26, 27 are brought into co-incidence by moving the housing 14 in an arc about its point 36 by means of a leaf spring 40 and a screw 38 which also acts as a pointer for an arcuate scale 44 calibrated for the range of the distant object or as applied to a camera the adjustments are co-ordinated directly with the focusing of the camera objective.
