[Also in Divisions H1 and H3- H5] A P.T.C. heating element comprises a material having a composition in the range Ba 0 . 9995 Th 0 . 0005 TiO 3 to Ba 0À998 Th 0 . 002 TiO 3 possibly with traces of lead. A specific composition is formed by mixing together by weight barium carbonate 66À6%, titanium dioxide 33À2%, thoria 0À2% with traces of lead, firing at an elevated temperature in an oxidizing atmosphere to produce a barium lead thorium titanate, milling to produce a powder, pressing to the desired shapes and sintering in air.
