In a liquid gas level indicating or measuring apparatus an open ended tube 12 provided at the lower end with an electric heater 16 is immersed in the liquid gas and the hydrostatic pressure created in the tube 12 enters a capsule 13 attached to a pressure gauge 14. The pressure indicated by gauge 14 is a function of the combined depth of the tube 12 in the liquid gas. The gauge may be of the mechanical, electrical strain or displacement transducer type.
