Abstract
1,252,433. Measuring fluid-flow electrically. ESSO RESEARCH & ENG. CO. Jan. 31, 1969 lJan. 31, 1968], No.4965/68. Heading G1N. Apparatus for measuring the rate of flow of fluid through a conduit 14, Fig. 1, comprises a resilient probe 10, carrying a strain gauge resistor on either side, which is deflected by the flowing fluid, the change in the resistance of the strain gauges as measured in a bridge circuit being a measure of the rate of flow. The sensor elements may alternatively be Piezo-electric wafers 53, 54, Fig. 6, or the probe unit may comprise two resistance wires 28, 29, Fig. 5, in a thin, stainless steel sheath 25 filled with resin or ceramic.
