Abstract
1,233,174. Pulleys. THOMAS FRENCH & SONS Ltd. 17 June, 1968 [15 June, 1967], No. 27565/67. Heading F2Q. A cord-engaged groove of a friction pulley is formed by opposed interdigitating sets of radially extending, pointed, triangular crosssection teeth T, the arrangement of which is such that, under load, the cord, wrapped around at least part of the pulley periphery, follows a slip-preventing tortuous path. The teeth of each set extend outwardly from approximately halfway between the pulley centre and periphery. The distance between adjacent points of the teeth of respective opposed sets decreases from the circumference towards the centre of the pulley so that cord grip increases with load. The pulley may be integrally moulded or comprise two separate toothed halves.
