Abstract

1,231,808. Mobile agricultural endless chain elevators. BLACKSTONE & CO. Ltd. 26 Nov., 1968 [2 Dec., 1967], No. 54945/67. Heading B8A. An elevator for root crops &c. has an upper section 11, the inclination of which is adjustable relative to the main portion 10, there being mechanism to compensate, during such adjustment, for the change in length of the conveyer chains. The inclination of the portion 11 is adjusted by a handle 43 which acts via linkage 49 and 56. The sprocket shaft 61 at the outer end of the conveyer portion 11 is movable relative to the conveyer frame in slotted members 62 under the control of a rod 63. The latter is rigid with the shaft 61 at one end and is pivoted at 64 to the frame of the conveyer portion 10. The offset between the pivots 12 and 64 causes a translation of the shaft 61 when the relative inclination of the conveyer portions 10, 11 varies. This compensates for the relative inclination tending to cause a change in the length of the conveyer chains. A spring 65 compensates for the weight of the conveyer portion 11. The inclination of the conveyer portion 10 may be adjusted by a jack 24. The conveyer is driven by an I.C. engine 31 operating through chain drives 32, 132.
