Abstract
1,231,515. Mounting unit for cap spindle. K. MALLINSON. 19 Feb., 1970 [19 Feb., 1969], No. 8869/69. Heading DID. A unit for mounting a cap spindle 10 of plain silver steel in the beam 12 of a cap spinning or twisting frame comprises a generally tubular holder 14, 20 mountable in an upright position in beam 12 to hold the end of the spindle in an upright position, the holder having an axially adjustable part 24 so that the spindle may be raised relative to beam 12 to compensate for wear. As shown the tubular holder comprises a sleeve "14 which may be longitudinally split and which can be passed through the beam 12. A further portion 20 is threaded. on the lower end of sleeve 14 so that beam 12 is gripped between a flange 16 on the top of sleeve 14 and the upper end of portion 20. A further part 24 is threaded in the lower end of portion 20 to carry the lower end of the spindle, it having a knob 28 for adjusting 'the vertical position of spindle 10. A screw 18 is provided in beam 12 to slightly deform sleeve 14 and hold spindle 10 in its adjusted position. Spindle 10 may be joined to adjusting member 24 or it may merely abut against it. Parts 14 and 20 may be replaced by a single tubular member.
