Abstract

1,230,885. Valves. JURY & SPIERS PTY. Ltd. 28 Jan., 1969 [30 Jan., 1968], No. 4984/69. Heading F2V. A mixing tap for hot and cold water comprises a body having hot and cold water inlets 25, 30 and an outlet 51, a pair of valves 15 co-operating with seats 27, 32 in passages 26, 31 between the inlets and the outlet, and a flow control member 34 in the passage 31 joining the cold water inlet with the outlet. The member 34 is resilient and changes shape when the pressure varies to keep the flow rate within narrow limits. A yoke 42 connects the two valves to a spindle 41 and tilts to accommodate any inequality in wear on the valve faces, the spindle having an operating knob 45 and a screwed connection with the body which increases the effective area of the hot water passage 52 as the valve opens. Flow of cold water through a passage 50 provides an ejection action to the flow of hot water through the passage 52.
