[Also in Divisions B1 and D1] A laminated material for use in filtering solids from gaseous media comprises first and second layers of non-woven woollen material respectively needled to opposite sides of a woven or non-woven scrim material of synthetic resin, e.g. polyamide or a polymer of acrylonitrile, each of the woollen layers including fibres which extend in a non-random manner in a first direction and other fibres which extend in a non-random manner in a second direction inclined to the first direction. The woollen layers may be of equal or unequal thickness. Each woollen layer may be divided into three strata, in the first and second of which the fibres lie at between 45 and 70 degrees to the fibres in the third strata. The woollen layers may be felted or fulled and may include some relatively short and other relatively long fibres. A filter made from the laminated material may be planar or tubular (either open-ended or with one end closed).
