Abstract

1,230,380. Coating-apparatus. E. A. TIMSON. 21 Dec., 1968 [21 Dec., 1967], No. 58050/ 67. Heading B2L. [Also in Division D1L] Strips of coating liquid are applied to one or travelling discontinuous sheets W from the open free ends of jet tubes 6 over which they are guided and which are supplied from a reservoir 2 via a pump 1 and a manifold 5. The jet tubes are removable, enabling longer or shorter tubes to be used. The pump 1 may be driven from a crank 7 of a machine treating the sheets so as to supply more or less liquid according to the speed of the sheets, by means of a pair of levers 8, pawl levers 10 bearing pawls 13, a ratchet wheel 12, wheels 19 and 18 and a belt 15. The sheets may be of paper, film, or a plastics material and the coating liquid may be adhesive, ink, paint or water.
