Abstract
1,230,309. Padlocks. MASTER LOCK CO. 22 July, 1969, No. 36892/69. Heading E2A. A padlock includes a case 11, a shackle 17 having a pair of legs 15, 16 reciprocatably extending into the case with the extended portion of each leg being formed with a notch, the notch in one leg being in a different elevation than that of the other leg, and a pair of shackle leg, notch-engaging bolts 24, 26. The latter are oppositely directed and reciprocatably movably mounted at the respective elevations of the notches and are urged toward the notch-engaging positions by independent coiled springs 33 which exert independent forces against the inner end portions of the bolts, and there is mechanism for simultaneously moving both of the bolts in opposite directions including a cylinder plug extension 21 extending through openings in and being adapted to engage both of the bolts. As shown, the bolts are of laminated construction and of heat-treated steel, and the cylinder 18 has a plug 18' which extends through an eccentric opening 19 in an oscillatable cam disc 20 carrying the extension 21. By inserting a key in and rotating the plug 18 the cam disc is turned together with the extension 21 whereby the bolts are retracted against the pressure of the springs.
