Abstract
1,229,694. Electric incandescent lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 25 March, 1969 [28 March, 1968], No. 15557/69. Heading H1F. An incandescent halogen lamp for use in a car headlight comprises a tubular bulb 1 containing a main 5 and a dipping 7 filament, the dipping filament being shielded by a screen in the form of a cap outside the bulb, substantially half of the longitudinal dimension of the dipping filament being surrounded by a reflecting part 15 of the screen and the other half nearest the main filament being surrounded by a light absorptive part 17 of the screen extending through an angle of 165-180 degrees about the filament. The dipping filament has a longitudinal axis parallel to the axis of the envelope and lies between this axis and the screen. The reflecting part 15 of the screen as viewed from the main filament 5 forms part of a conically widening surface whose half apex angle is greater than 20 degrees.
