Abstract

1,228,767. Securing carpets to floors. CIMCO Ltd. 25 July, 1968 [14 Aug., 1967], No. 37308/67. Heading A4S. A device for securing adjacent carpet edges 18 to a floor, comprises an elongate member 10, having lips 19 overlying the edges of the carpets, and an elongate member 11, having a base 16 secured by nails 23 and/or adhesive to the floor, the members being secured together by engagement of a plug 12 in a channel 13 so that the height of the lips above the floor is variable to accommodate different thicknesses of carpet. Preferably at least one of the mating surfaces of the plug and channel has a series of ribs and grooves 14, 15. The base 16 has a sloping face 25 forming a key with the adhesive. Teeth 21 and an edge 22 bite into upper and lower surfaces of the carpet and, in a modification, the edge 22 overlaps the inner row of teeth. In further modifications the member 10 is of clear plastics with an embedded metal foil layer, or, when required to secure only one carpet, the base extends to one side only of the channel and the lip at the other side forms an edging slope.
