Abstract

A Carpet Gripper comprises a base plate, which is secured to the floor and incorporates grips for securing a carpet in place, and a top plate which is removably attached to the base plate. On removal it can be re-used for fixing new carpets or re-adjusting existing carpets, eg by securing back in position by screws. <IMAGE>

Description

THE "MORRIS" CARPET GRIPPER Technical Field This invention relates to a removable top plate which can be fixed to a bottom plate as a means of holding down carpet either at the edge or when joining two carpets at the points of contact.
Background Existing Carpet Grippers use the principle of having the carpet "tucked" into a gripper using a suitable appliance. The disadvantage is that during normal wear there is a tendency for the carpet to work loose in certain areas and thus "fray" due to use.
Essential Features According to this invention there is a top "detachable" plate so that if part of the carpet works loose the top plate can be removed; the carpet replaced and then the top plate relocates into position. This principle can also apply if new carpet is to be laid thus achieving the need for new grippers.
The design of the "Morris" Carpet Gripper "grips" on the base plate will be similar to existing grips on existing grippers - Fig. t.

Claims (2)

Claims
1. A removable Carpet Gripper comprising a base plate in the form of a gripper strip for holding the carpet in place. The base plate to be a fixture to the floor. The Gripper top plate to be placed on the carpet and fixed to the bottom plate by means of countersink screws.
2. A removable Carpet Gripper as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the top plate is removable in order to replace existing carpets or re-adjust frayed carpets due to use.
