A wine glass holder, comprises two moulded part components, having mutually interengagable formations, (2, 6). <IMAGE>

Description

Holder Present invention relates to a holder, having means by which it can be releasably attached to the side of a plate. This enables user to hold both a plate on which is placed sandwiches, and a wine glass with only one hand.
Hitherto such a construction of glass holder has been made as one integral piece.
A problem encountered with such a previous construction is the limitation imposed on the effectiveness of the attachment made by the one piece moulding.
Accordingly, the present invention is directed to a holder, especially but not exclusively a wine glass holder, comprising two moulded part components, having mutually interengagable formations. In a preferred construction of such a holder, one of the components is a clip which can be releasably attached to the side of a plate and the other component is ring shaped to receive a glass, for example the underside of the bowl of a wine glass.
Advantageously the mutually interengagable formations comprise a dove tail joint.
An example of a holder made in accordance with the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 shows a front view of a clip component, of the holder; Figure 2 shows a side view of the component shown in Figure 1; Figure 3 shows a plan view of a portion of the component shown in Figure 1; Figure 4 shows a plan view of a second component of the holder; Figure 5 shows an underneath view of the component shown in Figure 4; Figure 6 shows a rear view of the component shown in Figure 4; and Figure 7 shows a section through the centre line of the component shown in Figure 4.
The clip component shown in Figures 1 to 3 comprises the dovetail 2, the coiled part of the clip 4 allowing variation on plate thickness unique to present glass holder. Figure 3 showing top view of dove tail 2 unique to the present glass holder. The ring component shown in Figures 4 to 7 comprises, the female part of the dove tail 6 unique to the present glass holder. Figure 8 shows extra plastic structure around dove tail (female).
The ring portion has an opening 45" to centre line to allow glass stem through. Figure 4 shows part 10 dove tail neatly hidden underneath structure. All edges are rounded to avoid accidents with people rubbing against glass holder.

Claims (5)

Claims
1. A holder, especially but not exclusively a wine glass holder, comprising two moulded part components having mutually interengagable formations.
2. A holder according to claim 1, in which one of the components is a clip which can be releasably attached to the side of a plate and the other component is ring shaped to receive a glass.
3. A holder according to claim 2, in which the said other component is ring shaped to receive the underside of the bowl of a wine glass.
4. A holder according to any preceding claim, in which the mutually interengagable formations comprise a dove tail joint.
5. A wine glass holder substantially as described herein with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawing.
