[Also in Division H2] An oil-blast circuit-breaker has a circularsection or near-circular section tank 11 made of synthetic resin, the tank having its side wall reinforced externally by a winding or wrapping 25 which is prestressed circumferentially in tension so that the resin of the side wall is prestressed and maintained in compression. The tank may be a gravity moulding of cast resin, such as epoxy resin, containing an inorganic filler such as silica flour. The winding may be a metal wire or a glass-fibre tape or cord. Alternatively, the tank may have a wrapping formed by a metal tube or sleeve shrunk on to the tank wall by a high-energyrate electromagnetic forming process in which the tank with the tube or sleeve is surrounded by an inductor coil through which a bank of capacitors is discharged.
