Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate fabrication of a molded ignition coil and also to achieve its miniaturization by a method wherein projections extending in the radial direction from a cup-style case accommodating a secondary winding of an ignition coil are molded with the case as an integral body and thereon diodes are mounted and further the whole is molded with resin. CONSTITUTION:Four projections 21 are extending in the opening side of a cup- styled case 20 accommodating a primary winding 1 and a secondary winding 2 of an ignition coil and in the direction of the case, and they are molded with the case in an integral body. High-voltage diodes 4 to 7 are mounted on the projections 21 each. Both ends of the secondary winding 2 are connected with diodes 4 to 7. In this case, a lead wire 23 from the lower side end of the secondary winding 2 is connected with one end of diodes 6 and 7 each through a projecting part 22. The insulation thickness 1 between the secondary winding 2 and the lead wire 23 can be ensured by the radial width of the projecting part 22. Following this, thermosetting resin 25 is injected from the opening of the case 20 and hardened by heat. With this construction, the insulation can be fully ensured in a mold ignition coil, and also facilitation of its fabrication and miniaturization of the coil can be achieved.
