Abstract
1,227,786. Cooling discharged material. POLYSIUS A.G. G.m.b.H. 23 Nov., 1968, No. 55672/68. Heading F4B. A device for cooling fired or sintered material 3, e.g. hot cement clinker, discharged from a rotary kiln, comprises a roller grate inclined to the horizontal at 3 to 10 degrees and having hollow rotating rollers 4 with apertured peripheral walls, and pivoted strippers 5 which are apertured, cooling air being passed upwardly through the rollers 4, strippers 5 and material 3. Each roller 4 includes one or, in the embodiment shown, two worm conveyers which feed material falling into the roller in opposite axial directions. A stripper 6 which may be impermeable to air is provided adjacent a second stage travelling grate cooler 2. Strippers 5, 6 may have hollow pivot supports with a coolant flowing therethrough. The level of the strippers 5 and rollers 4 may be adjusted, the latter permitting alteration of the grate inclination. Each roller may be individually adjustable in speed. The cooling air having passed through the material 3 is supplied as secondary air to the kiln.
