Abstract
1,227,274. Grinding. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU-KOMBINAT ERNST THALMANN, VEB. 11 July, 1969, No. 35102/69. Heading B3D. Means, e.g. in combination with a centreless grinding machine for simultaneously advancing and rotating a bar 17 comprises a sleeve 3, a drive head carrier 4 rotatable about the sleeve 3 through a spur gear 5, a drive head 8 rigid with the carrier 4 bearing pivotable forked arms 9, worm gears 10 within the head engaging a fixed worm screw 11 on the sleeve 3, and means for transmitting drive from the gears 10 to drive rollers 15 on the arms 9 for advancing the bar 17 as the head 8 rotates. The gear 5 is driven from a motor 7, a train of gears (12)-(14), Figs. 2-4 (not shown), within each arm 9 actuating the rollers 15. Tension springs (16) linking the outer opposed ends of the arms 9 ensure engagement of the bar 17, or rubber rings (19), Fig. 3, may be interposed between the rollers 15 and their hubs, and screws 18 allow adjustment of the arms to varying bar diameters, with symmetrical adjustment ensured by interengaging gear segments (20), Fig. 2, on each arm.
