[Also in Division F4] At least part of a lining for a furnace operating under reducing conditions comprises refractory material completely impregnated with a phosphorus compound, the ceramic bond of the material being free from the phosphorus compound. Ammonium and aluminium phosphates are specified. Impregnation, which can be under vacuum, is on fired material to ensure the bond being free of phosphorus. Specified refractories are alumina, aluminium silicates and carbon.
