1,226,487. Measuring thickness of ink or rollers. RESEARCH ASSOCIATION FOR THE PAPER & BOARD PRINTING & PACKAGING INDUSTRIES. 14 Nov., 1969, No. 55892/69. Addition to 1,140,107. Heading B6C. [Also in Divisions G1 and G3] The apparatus for detecting changes in the thickness of an ink film on a roller system of a printing press of the parent Specification is modified in that instead of the rise of an adjustable diaphragm for zeroing of the bridge circuit, an adjustable impedance, e.g. a resistor (25), Fig. 2 (not shown), is provided in one arm of the bridge. A further modification is the use of a variable impedance, e.g. a resistor (42) in series with the bridge output for sensitivity adjustment in measurement or control. The bridge illustrated in Fig. 2 (not shown) is supplied by rectified A.C., but a stabilized fixed frequency A.C. supply may be used, when the indicating system is suitably replaced and inductors or capacitors may be used as the adjustable impedances (instead of resistors 25, 42).
