Abstract

1345454 Photoprinter METEOR-SEIGEN APPARATEBAU PAUL SCHMECK GmbH 16 March 1972 [23 April 1971] 12281/72 Heading G2A A photoprinter includes a measuring station 4 for assessing the translucency of an original to be printed, a store I for a control value signal representing the translucency, an exposure station 8 and a drive circuit 50 for conveying the original 2 and a transfer sheet past the exposure station at a speed dependent on the control value signal. Light deflected from printing source 9 is incident on the original and subsequently on photo-cell 5. This voltage is then amplified at 21 and passed through S 1 , actuated on completion of measurement to the signal former comprising. MOSFET 22, capacitor 26 and amplifiers 28, 30. The signal former compares the voltages at A and B and opens MOSFET when A>B to charge the capacitor but closes it through comparator 24 when B>A. The movement of the original to the exposure station actuates transfer regulator 40 through a feeler or other switching device to close switch S 2 and pass the signal from capacitor 26 to capacitor 36 to control the drive circuit 50 through amplifier 38. S 2 is then opened and the original is conveyed past the exposure station. A brake may be provided to allow smooth transitions between different drive speeds. Printing papers of differing photo-sensitivity may be selected, cut and conveyed to the exposure station, in which case, their different characteristics are accounted for by switching in sets of resistors 62, 63 in parallel with amplifier 21. Different filter and diaphragm settings may also be pre-set by switches 65. Switch S 3 actuated by the original movement and resistor 29 are provided to discharge capacitor 26 after each original has passed the measuring station.
