Abstract

1,226,326. Storage racks. MIDLAND INDUSTRIES Ltd. 1 Nov., 1968 [2 Aug., 1967], No. 35400/67. Heading A4B. A pallet rack comprises spaced U-section posts 34, 36 interconnected by bearer beams 54 provided with end connectors 52 having hooks 50 for selective engagement in vertically spaced openings 48 in the webs 38 of the posts 34, 36, each opening 48 having side edges defined by flanges 62 pressed inwardly of the planar front face of the post to define the opening 48. The opening may be rectangular (Fig. 8 or, as shown, may be trapezium shaped with downwardly convergent side edges. In the latter case the hooks 58 have the same inclination as the side edges to effect a downward engagement without wedging. End frames 32 are formed by rigidly interconnecting posts 34, 36 in pairs by braces 44. The interengagement between the hooks 50 and openings 48 is maintained by plugs 98 comprising a rubber body (102) on a metal backing (106), the plug 98 being releasably fitted in the post of the opening 48 above the engaged hook 50. In another embodiment (Fig 10) bearers (96) extending parallel to coplanar frames 32 are supported on brackets (94) carried by connectors 52.
