Abstract

122,590. Wilkinson, F. A. July 17, 1918. Heating charge.-Supplementary air at a temperature of approximately 500‹ F. is admitted to the induction pipe between the carburettor and the cylinders. The air is heated in a pipe which traverses the exhaust pipe longitudinally. The pipe may, as shown in Fig. 2, resemble a Field tube, the air entering the pipe 9 at 18 and escaping at 10; 2 indicates the exhaust pipe.
