Abstract
1,225,785. Nitriding by glow discharge. ELEKTROPHYSIKALISCHE ANSTALT BERNHARD BERGHAUS. June 12, 1968, No.28005/68. Heading C7U. [Also in Division H1] In a process and apparatus for nitriding the bore of tubes, particularly gun barrels, the treating gas, which may be ammonia, is supplied to the bore by a pipe coaxial with it, the pipe having a closed end and a series of baffled nozzles inside the tube. The latter is connected as cathode and the supply tube as anode. As particularly described tube workpiece 9 is secured in centering bodies 8, 11, the former being secured to the roof of chamber 2, while gas supply pipe 14 having nozzles 19 and baffle sleeve 20 is connected to gas inlet 18. Electrical contact with tube 9 is made through conductor 10.
