Abstract
1309257 Nitriding tube bores MILLINGFORD ENG CO Ltd 18 Feb 1970 7902/70 Heading C7U The tube or other hollow body is heated in a furnace while a continuous controlled flow of nitriding gas is passed through it so that only the inner surface is exposed thereto. Treatment may be carried out for 12-100 hours at 470-700‹ C with the gas at a pressure of 15-25 lb/sq. in. In a particular embodiment tubes 1, 2, 3 are connected in series to a gas line 4 by threaded plugs 9 and connectors 12, the line being supplied with ammonia from source 5 through pressure reducing valve 6 and flowmeter 7.
