Abstract

1,225,776. Clamps. BURTON DELING- POLE & CO. Ltd. 1 July, 1968 [30 June, 1967], No. 30183/67. Heading E2B. A scaffold clamp comprises a pair of clamping bodies 10 each provided at one end with a hinge connection to a clamping jaw 17 and at the other end with a clamping bolt 22 the hinge connection comprising at the adjacent end of the jaw 17, a forked configuration 15, 16 with a hinge pin 14 extending between the arms of the fork and at the hinge end of each body a single flat lug 12 extending between the arm of the fork, with the extremity 18 of the lug 12 being engageable with the adjacent end of the jaw between the two arms to limit opening movement of the jaw, each of the clamping bodies 10 adjacent the lug being formed at the side of the body opposite to the seating thereof with a reinforcing rib 13, serving to increase the resistance of the body the bending and shear fracture when the associated jaw is tightened into clamping engagement with the scaffold tube. Bosses 24 on the bodies 10 are inter connected by a swivel pin to permit relative pivotal movement of the bodies.
