Abstract

1,225,526. Photographic silver balide printout materials. EASTMAN KODAK CO. April 5, 1968 [April 7, 1967] , No. 16419/68. Heading G2C. A photographic silver halide material which may be used either as a print-out or as adeveloping- out material, has an emulsion layer in which the silver halide grains contain occluded polyvalent metal ions, the material also containing in the emulsion or another layer a halogen acceptor and a trivalent or tetravalent metal ion salt. The material gives a print-out image on exposure, which image may be stabilized by removal of the halogen acceptor by heating, washing or oxidation. Alternatively the material may be exposed insufficiently to give a print-out image but sufficiently to give a latent non-visible image and chemically developed and fixed to give a permanent image. The occluded polyvalent metal ions and the trivalent or tetravalent metal ions present in the salts may be Sb, Bi, As, Au, Ir, Rh, Pt, and Os ions. The halogen acceptor may be a thiourea, heterocyclic mercaptan or thione, thiosemicarbazide, hydrazine, urazole or thiourazole.
