Abstract
1,225,327. Two-part couplings. BELLING & LEE Ltd. 12 May, 1969, No. 24127/69. Heading H2E. A contact member assembly comprises an axially symmetrical conductive contact member 1 having a contact portion 2 and a portion 4 of reduced diameter on which is closely fitted a resilient insulating sleeve member 7, e.g. of nylon, which is of longitudinally split tubular form, to facilitate the fitting of the sleeve in position by deformation. A flange portion 9 on the sleeve extending radially beyond the contact member 1 provides means for axial location of the assembly in an aperture in an insulating board (Fig. 3, not shown) and may also serve to guide the indentors 13, 14 of a crimping tool while making an electrical connection to terminal 5. The extent of the said longitudinal opening is determined by the resilience of the sleeve material. The assembly may be located free of axial movement in either direction by fastening with the first insulating board a second board having a counterbored aperture to receive the flange portion 9. A modification has the sleeve with its flange portion intermediate between the ends and a second modification has the entire length of the insulating sleeve projecting radially to form the flange.
