Abstract

1,224,124. Capacitors. SIEMENS A.G. 23 July, 1969 [24 July, 1968], No. 36923/69. Heading HIM. Electrical connection is made to the electrodes 2 reaching to the end faces of an electrical component such as a capacitor by applying two metal layers 3, 4 to the end faces, the metal of layers 3 having a higher melting point than that of layers 4, and pressing lead wires 5 into metal layers 4 so that they touch layers 3. The thickness of layers 3 is such that the lead wires are the proper distance apart for insertion into a printed circuit board. Layers 4 may be softened by heat and after lead wires 5 have been pressed in they may be welded to layers 3. The capacitor may be one obtained by severing a parent capacitor wound on a drum. Layer 3 may be aluminium or copper, layer 4 solder or white metal applied by Schoop spraying.
