Abstract
1,224,121. Refrigerating. CARRIER CORP. 10 March, 1969 [7 June, 1968], No. 12512/69. Heading F4H. In an absorption refrigeration system of the two-pressure type which employs a pump for supplying solution from the low to the high pressure side, a tank is provided for receiving solution from the absorber and forwarding the solution to the pump inlet. As shown, the tank 68 has a solution inlet 66 and an outlet pipe 72 communicating with the pump inlet. The upper end of the pipe is open and openings 111, 113 are provided in its sides. In normal openation the solution level is between opening 113 and the top of the pipe so that solution flows through both openings, and induces a flow of non-condensible gases from the top of the tank, to the pump. Opening 111 ensures that the pump is supplied with liquid when abnormally low solution levels occur, e.g. at start-up, and may be smaller than orof the same size as opening 113. A screen 109 surrounds pipe 72. The tank is connected in a-system of the type described in Specification 1,226,241.
