Abstract

1,224,025. Dip moulding footwear. PLASTIC COATINGS Ltd. 13 March, 1968 [13 March, 1967], No. 12296/68. Heading B5A. A method of manufacturing footwear comprises a two stage dipping process using gellable thermoplastic compositions and a former in which the heel producing portion is provided with a plurality of slots and/or holes, the dipping being so performed that the sole and heel producing portions of the former receive two coats. The dipping compositions may be of different colour and on gellation different flexibility. The compositions may be plastisols or organosols based on vinyl chloride polymers, or polymer latex or fluidized beds of P.V.C. or polyethylene powder. The sole and heel may be pressed against a patterned plate to produce a tread.
