Abstract

1,222,980. Distributers for granular material. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 5 March, 1968 [8 March, 1967], No. 10591/68. Heading A1D. A dispenser of granular material comprises a horizontal tube 9 having holes 12 in its lower side, and means for imparting longitudinal vibration to the tube. Material is fed to the tube 9 from a container 14 via supply ducts 15, 16. The tube 9 is slidably supported by bearings 8 in plates 7, and the device is pivotably mounted on support 3 by a bolt 5 via the member 2 and the bar 1. Vibrational motion is imparted to the tube by eccentric 10 and rod 17. A second tube 11 surrounds the tube 9, having holes 13 larger than and in adjacent positions to the holes 12. Tube 9 is slidable in tube 11 and tube 11 may be rotated relative to the tube 9 by a cable (21) (Fig. 2, not shown) in order to close the holes 12 and prevent distribution of the material. The end wall 26 may also be provided with holes 27 for discharge of material on to a vibrating tongue 28 and thence to the ground.
