A powder distributer comprises two horizontal spreading screws 10 extending in opposite directions from a container 1, the screws being of continuously increasing pitch along their entire length so that the turns are closer together at the opposing ends than at the outer ends. The screws are enclosed in tubes 6, 6<SP>1</SP> provided with helically arranged holes 9. The hopper is provided with two adjustable outlet members 3, 3<SP>1</SP> in which are mounted tubes 4, 4<SP>1</SP> fixed to the tubes 6, 6<SP>1</SP> by means of couplings 5. The screws are driven by means of a bolt drive 11 and are not supported at their outer ends by bearings. Foldable brackets 7, 7<SP>1</SP> support the tubes 6, 61.
