1,222,449. Human albumin. TSENTRALNY INSTITUT GEMATOLOGII I PERELIVANIA KROVI. 15 Nov., 1968 [15 Nov., 1967], No. 54323/68. Heading C3H. In a process for the preparation of pure human albumin from solutions containing haemopigments, salts are added to an albumin fraction containing alpha- and beta-globulins so as to give an ionic strength from 0À2 to 0À6, ethanol is added to the solution so that its concentration in the solution is from 30% to 50% by volume, the pH of the alcoholic solution is adjusted to 6À0-6À8 and the resulting precipitate of globulins and haemopigments is separated from the solution. The salts added may be sodium chloride, sodium citrate and ammonium sulphate. The mixture may be cooled to 0‹ to - 6‹ C. before adjusting the pH, then further cooled to - 7‹ to - 20‹ C.
