Abstract

1,222,413. Feeding and delivering sheets. SPERRY RAND CORP. 14 June, 1968 [16 June, 1967], No. 28474/68. Heading B8R. Sheets 21 are fed from a supply bin 20, Fig. 1, past a read station 22 to a stacker 23 along a path below a top plate 28, Figs. 1 and 3, of a feed bed 26 and above rib members 36, by means of air jets through nozzles 41, Fig. 2, arranged in four rows A-D, Fig. 6, the nozzles to rows A, D being directed forwardly and in rows B, C rearwardly. The sheets rest on a cushion of air supplied through a hose fitting 45 and holes 43 in the ribs. In Fig. 6, two rows of forward nozzles and two of rearward are activated by an automatic sequencer 25 so that the sheet is in equilibrium. To move the sheet forwards, the sequence is stepped to energize forward jets 4, 5 and rearward jets 12, 13 and so on in steps.
