Abstract
1,221,375. Knotting in yarn winding apparatus. L. SAVIO. 6 Dec., 1968 [9 Dec., 1967], No. 58187/68. Heading D1J. A knotting apparatus in a yarn winding machine is constructed such that after the yarn ends F1, F2 have been knotted together the free ends S1, S2 thereof are gripped and said ends are then severed. The specification states that if the severing action is not complete on one or both ends, the gripping action on the unsevered end or ends results in the thread being broken again during its return to the winding apparatus and the ends F1, F2 will then be returned automatically to the knotting apparatus. In Figs. 1 and 3 the yarn ends Fl, F2 are knotted behind a thread guide element 2 and the free ends S1, S2 are moved forwardly into slots 103, 203 on opposite sides of the guide element 2. An upper jaw 15 then descends on the thread ends to clamp them against a lower clamp jaw 14 whilst the ends are severed. Rod 13 is used to rook driving lever 9 to the right against a spring bias. Mounted on lever 9 are a plunger 10 and an actuating member 19. When the lever 9 moves to the right the run-on surface 119 of the member 19 engages a plunger 117 to raise the jaw 15, and thereafter the plunger 10 engages a lever 7 to actuate the knotting mechanism. When the lever 9 rocks back to its original setting the plunger 10 first releases its action on the knotting lever 7, and thereafter the member 19 retracts from the plunger 117 to permit the jaw 15 to clamp the free yarn ends.
