Abstract
1,221,337. Gas fuelled lighters. FLAMINAIRE MARCEL QUERCIA. 28 June, 1968 [29 June, 1967; 13 Dec., 1967], No. 30877/68. Heading F4F. In a gas-fuelled lighter comprising a porous wad 102 clamped between two surfaces 103, the separation of which can be adjusted to control the flow of fuel from a reservoir to a burner 101, the wad 102 has a layer 102a less porous than a second layer 102b, and is mounted on a conical projection 15 of the surface 104 projecting into a fuel flow orifice 109 formed in the surface 103. The surface 103 is formed on an annular shoulder shoulder 106a of a tube 106 which extends across the reservoir and which is in screw-threaded engagement with an element 111 forming the surface 104. The base of the element ] 11 has a slot 22 into which projects a tongue 26 of a member 23 which is a snap-fit in the tube 106 and projects therefrom, rotation of the member 23 thus varying the separation of the element 111 and the shoulder 106a. Alternatively (Fig. 1, not shown), the lighter may be as described in Specification 1,221,338. In a further embodiment (Figs. 3-4, not shown), a member (123) (identical with member 23) has a tapping 123b in which is threadedly received a screw (30), the tongue (126) being horseshoe shaped and the screw (30) projecting laterally thereof, such that the screw 30 abuts the element (211) to limit the position of least compression on the wad 2 which can be attained by a user.
