Abstract
1427934 Valves BOC INTERNATIONAL Ltd 11 March 1974 [21 Dec 1972] 59056/72 Heading F2V A gas flow control valve for a gas-burning torch or like appliance, comprises a body 2 defining a chamber 10 having two independently-adjustable valve members 16, 22 controlling flow between an inlet 4 and two outlets 6, 8. Control rod 20 of valve member 22 passes through the valve member 16 to facilitate adjustment of both valve members from the same position externally of the body. The valve member 16 is screwed into the body and is adjustable via a knurled knob 18, whereas the valve member 22 is adjustable by depressing the control rod 20 via a lever (not shown). In an alternative embodiment the valve 22 is biased by a spring towards its open position and is closed by depression of rod 20. When the valve is used in a cutting torch, oxygen supplied via inlet 4 and directed through outlet 6 mixes with fuel for providing a preheating flame at the torch nozzle, whereas oxygen directed through outlet 8 is delivered through an aperture in the centre of the nozzle to effect cutting.
