Abstract

1,221,338. Lighters. FLAMINAIRE MARCEL QUERCIA. 28 June, 1968 [13 Dec., 1967], No. 36561/70. Divided out of 1,221,337. Heading F4F. In a gas fuelled lighter the flow of gas from a reservoir 5 to a burner 1 is regulated by rotation of a tubular member 11 housing a refill valve and screw threaded in a tube 6 which passes through the reservoir and which has an orifice 13 interconnecting the reservoir and the bore 19 of the member 11. A wad 2 of material having a layer 2a of finer porosity and a layer 2b of coarser porosity is received on a conical projection 15 of the member 11, and is compressed, to a variable degree, against a shoulder 6a in the tube 6, the shoulder 6a defining an aperture 9 closed by an outlet valve 7. A tampon B is inserted between the tube 6 and a flint tube 17. In a second embodiment the wad is non-porous, the projection 15 then projecting, to a varying degree, into an aperture in the wad for gas flow control.
