1,221,192. Foundry-mould compositions. RHEINSTAHL HUTTENWERKE A.G. 20 March, 1968 [12 April, 1967], No. 13566/68. Heading C3N. A self-hardening flowable moulding material mixture comprises (a) sand previously used in a foundry mould or core, (b) hydraulic cement forming #5% by wt. of the mixture, (c) water, and (d) a non-ionogenic surfactant. The surfactant may be e.g. a nonylphenolpolyglycol ether or an addition product of ethylene oxide and a fatty acid or alcohol. The ethoxylation degree may be #10. The mixture may contain by wt. 78-91% sand, 5-12% (b), 4-10% (c) and 0À01-0À1% (d). The sand may contain new quartz sand, e.g. 5-10%, as well as (a). The sand grain-size may be 0À44-0À45 mm. The mixture is used in foundry moulds or cores.
