Abstract

1220557 Combustion of liquid fuel COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 9 Jan 1970 1167/70 Addition to 1204177 Headings C5G and G10A Sulphur containing liquid fuels are burnt in a fluidized bed of incombustible material, a carbonate being added to the bed to retain the sulphur in the bed. The incombustible material comprises ash containing not more than 0À5 wt per cent of carbon, the carbonate is calcium carbonate, limestone or dolomite, and the fuel may be petroleum or oil residues. Ferrous oxide may also be added to the bed, which is maintained at 700-850‹C., a heat exchange medium passing through tubes immersed in the bed.
