Abstract

1,220,031. Growing tooth for dolls. REMCO INDUSTRIES Inc. 4 Feb., 1969 [5 Sept., 1968], No. 6048/69. Heading A6S. A mechanism, mountable in a dolls head, to simulate the growth of a tooth, comprises (a) a pivoted lever arm 14 having a tooth 12 at one end and pivoted at 22 so that the tooth can occupy an exposed position in the mouth 13, or a retracted position, said arm being biased by spring 15, towards the exposed position, (b) a latch 20 fixed on the under side of arm 14, to hold the latter in the retracted position, (c) a shaft 16 mounted to slide horizontally to and from the mouth, below arm 14, the shaft 16 being biased by spring 32 towards the mouth 13 and (d) a cam surface 18 attached to the top of shaft 16 such that when the shaft is moved towards the mouth (e.g. by lifting the tooth with a spoon), surface 18 lifts arm 14 and the tooth, by engaging with latch 20, into the retracted position. When the tooth is required in the exposed position, a dummy P is' inserted into the mouth, to push shaft 16 backwards, thus lowering latch 20 on cam 18, until the latch engages in a step 36. of surface 18.
