Open-width type.-In dyeing and bleaching apparatus of the type described in the parent Specification wherein material is passed over squeezing-rollers d<1>, d<2> and guide-rollers b<1>, b<2>, the guide-rollers being alternatively connected to a source of power so as to be driven in opposite directions, the guide-rolls are connected to the squeezing-rolls by belts f so that the non-positively driven guide-roller accelerates the motion of the opposite squeezing-roll. The rollers are provided with pulleys e<1>-e<4> connected to the rollers by one-way clutches, which are so arranged that the belt and pulleys of the positively driven roller and the opposite squeezing-roller remain idle. The pulleys e<3>, e<4> of the guide-rollers may be synchronized by a belt running over equalsized pulleys. The cloth reels h are provided with braking means comprising a weighted brake strap i. A partihion l is provided at one side of the vat to allow addition of liquid without splashing the material.
