Abstract

1,218,700. Direct couplings. MINNESOTA MINING & MFG. CO. 6 Nov., 1969 [7 Nov., 1968], No. 54541/69. Heading H2E. A solderless connector comprises a rigid block 10 having a short leg and a parallel extended leg defining a groove therebetween, said short leg having a flat terminal surface 16 and said extended leg 15 being bifurcate and defining a wire-accepting slot; within the groove is a bifurcate resilient contact plate element having a slot 14 in line with said slot in said leg. The block may be of rigid insulating material and the contact plate extended from the wireaccepting portion to form one additional contact member, e.g. a wire wrap post 12, an additional bifurcate wire-contacting portion (Fig. 3), a flat plate spring contact for fork-terminal connection (Figs. 2, 2A), at least one resilient tubular contact for plug-type connection (Fig. 4) or an additional bifurcate contact plate and an additional flat plate spring contact. A tool (55, Fig. 5) is used for shearing unneeded length of the wire inserted in the connector. A telephone connecting block (Fig. 6) includes a flat base (61) for attachment to a supporting structure and integral therewith a plurality of solderless connectors.
